Jimmy Jean-Louis Part of “We Are The World”

Actor Jimmy Jean-Louis, who has been at the
forefront of Haiti disaster relief, joined in
the remake of the “We Are the World” song and
video to benefit the survivors of the 7.0

“I
am deeply honored to take part in a song that
defined a generation in 1985 and will also
define the current one,” says Jimmy Jean-Louis,
the spokesperson for the Pan American
Development Foundation’s Haiti relief effort.
“At the same time, I am deeply saddened that it
is for our hemisphere’s worst
tragedy.”
Eighty performers participated
in the re-recording of the classic “We Are the
World,” including Barbara Streisand, Céline
Dion, the Jonas Brothers and Wyclef Jean. It
was written in 1985 by Michael Jackson and
Lionel Richie and produced by Quincy Jones and
Michael Omartian. Paul Haggis filmed the
session in 3-D.
The song will be
released on Friday, Feb. 12, during the opening
of the Winter Olympics.
PADF – an
independent nonprofit that also acts as the
natural disaster arm of Organization of
American States (OAS) – is collaborating with
Hollywood Unites for Haiti (HUFH) and other
organizations to provide immediate relief and
to contribute to the country’s reconstruction.
Jimmy Jean-Louis is also the president of
HUFH.
